Renovated community school opened

The renovated Okegun-Odofin Community Primary School in Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos State, has been reopened.

Secretary to the Lagos State government (SSG) Mrs. Folashade Jaji, at the event, said the renovation was sponsored by the One Community At A Time (OCAAT) initiative of the Office of Secretary to the State Government.

Mrs. Jaji said the Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu administration gave OCAAT the approval to intervene in some communities deprived of basic amenities to actualise the state’s T.H.E.M.E.S. Development Agenda.

According to get, OCAAT engaged the Okegun-Odofin community on what project was of utmost importance to them, and it was agreed that the only primary school in the community rehabilitated.

The SSG explained that the intervention is to create a conducive environment for teaching and learning.

She said: “The rehabilitation and renovation of the school included the construction of 2.4-meter high fence occupying five plots; gate and security house; ceiling, skidding of all floors; lighting and construction of stair cases for the nursery pupils, among others.”

Jaji lauded the contractor, Gbenga Agbaje, for completing the project on schedule despite the rains, and also praised the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) for prompt supply of desks and chairs to the school.
