Police in Imo have killed a kidnap suspect in a shootout with the hoodlums in their forest hideout in Ehime Mbano Local Government Area of the state.

It was gathered that the shootout took place when police stormed the forest to rescue a kidnap victim.

The hoodlums on sighting the tactical team opened fire.

One of the suspects was gunned down while a policeman was wounded and taken to hospital, police spokesman Mike Abattam said.

The kidnap victim was rescued, he said.
