A group under the umbrella of Izu Umunna Cultural Association has thrown its weights behind the Southern Governors’ Forum for insisting that power must shift to the Southern part of the country, just as it expressed strong support for the September deadline set to end open-grazing in the region.
A statement signed by its President Ugo Pat Ihekuna (KSM) and the Secretary I.T Egwuonwu and made available to reporters in Jos, the Plateau State capital, maintained that the Southern Governors’ Forum has exhibited a high sense of patriotism.
The statement reads: Izu Umunna joins numerous well-meaning groups and individuals to commend Southern Governors for their positions on burning national issues at the recent meeting of their Forum held in Lagos.
“We salute the courageous and pragmatic leadership of their Chairman. Ondo State Governor Rotimi Akeredolu (SAN), and urge all members to encourage him by showing enough zeal, commitment and possible physical presence in all the affairs of the Forum.”
