President Muhammadu Buhari has said the death of popular Nigerian entertainment star, Olanrewaju Abdul-Ganiu Fasasi (aka Sound Sultan), is a loss to the nation.

The artiste died and was buried on July 11, 2021 in the United States of America (U.S.A), according to Islamic rites, after battling Angioimmunoblastic T-cell Lymphoma, a type of red blood cancer. He was 44.

A statement yesterday in Abuja by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, said President Buhari extended heartfelt condolences to the Fasasi family on the death of the singer, producer and songwriter.

“The President notes that Sound Sultan’s demise is not only a loss to the Nigerian music industry but to the country as a whole.

“As a celebrated rapper, singer, songwriter, actor, he lived an exemplary life, achieved several milestones in his career and contributed greatly to the development of the Nigerian music and entertainment industry through his artistic genius, creativity and talent, which has inspired many young Nigerians in the industry…”

Also, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu extended his heartfelt condolences to the Fasasi family and the Nigerian entertainment industry on the death of Sound Sultan.

In a statement on Monday by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Gboyega Akosile, the governor said: “Sound Sultan’s death is painful. He was a bundle of talents, who used his God-given gift to advance the course of mankind.

“His music, artistry and interest in sports were all donated at every point for the development of humanity.”
