Uzodimma to fix rural roads, says aide

By Chris Njoku, Owerri

Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma will focus on rural roads in his second phase of infrastructural development, his Special Adviser on Public Enlightenment and Entertainment, Eze Ugochukwu, has said.

He told reporters yesterday in Owerri that the governor had demonstrated his promise by monitoring the Rural Access Mobility Project (RAMP).

Uzodimma, he said, had rural road construction as his priority in RAMP projects, which he explained had made him set up a committee headed by the Deputy Governor, Prof. Placid Njoku, to evaluate the level of work done by the RAMP contractors.

Ugochukwu said although the governor had expressed disappointment about the level of work done so far by some of the RAMP projects he inherited from his predecessor, he vowed that his administration would not take anything for granted in realising his objective of good roads.

He said Governor Uzodimma had meetings with the contractors, informing them of what type of job he expected from them.

He said the rural roads would receive attention immediately the rain subsided.
