GOVERNOR Darius Dickson Ishaku of Taraba State on Friday celebrated his 67th birthday anniversary, having been born on July 30, 1954.

Though not an elaborate celebration, it was gathered that the governor organised a dinner for members of his executive council as well as members of the State Assembly and the judiciary.

The Taraba State University also on Saturday organised a special golf match in his honour at the varsity’s DDI Golf Club named after the governor’s initials in Jalingo.

The governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Bala Dan Abu, told The Nation that “the governor had actually wanted the anniversary to be low key but his associates insisted he must sit out with his top officials and friends.”

A former senator and ex-minister of Labour from Southern Taraba, Joel Danlami Ikenya, chose the occasion to announce that Gov. Ishaku, who has served as State Minister for Power and Environment and Minister of State for Niger Delta Affairs before becoming governor in 2015 has also earned Taraba South’s senate endorsement towards the coming 2023 elections.
