The Nigerian Computer Society (NCS) said the report of the committee it set up to come up with far-reaching technology solutions to address insecurity in the country is ready.
Its President, Prof Adesina Sodiya, in a telephone interview, said the report would be presented to the relevant agencies of the government at the appropriate time.
He said the level of insecurity in the country had become worrisome, adding that every patriotic Nigerian should be worried as well.
He expressed concern about the level of criminality in the country including banditry, kidnap for ransom, herders/farmers clash and others.
Sodiya said: “There are so many recommendations, including the use of personal technology, use of drones, and sensor. When the committee made its presentation, they were talking about marking the currency some of these bandits collect as ransom so they could be tracked. They also talked about the use of the internet of things (IoT).
“We also want to review the report before sending it to the government for implementation.”
