NCPC boss Rev. Pam condemns Plateau killings

The Executive Secretary, Nigeria Christian Pilgrim Commission, (NCPC), Rev. Dr. Yakubu Pam has condemned the recent attacks in some communities in Riyom and Bassa local government areas of Plateau State.

He decried the wanton killings and destruction of farmlands by marauders, even as he called for an end to the killings.

The NCPC boss made the condemnation yesterday in a statement by his media aide, Pam Ayuba.

According to the statement, Rev Pam was quoted as “bemoaning the continued mayhem meted out to innocent citizens of the State” calling on the security agencies to intensify efforts at “arresting perpetrators of these heinous acts.”

He said: “Plateau needs support from both the Federal Government and international donor agencies to deal with incessant crises that had persisted in the state without relief.

“We should support the government to fight these intruders and round them up for the nation to sleep in peace,” he emphasised.

In a related development, normalcy has returned to Jos, the Plateau State capital, after a violent protest by aggrieved youths at Gada Biyu, along Polo Junction in Jos North Local Government Area, which resulted in the burning of two trucks loaded with cows.

However, reports have it that irate youths went on a rampage, reportedly obstructing traffic at the Gada Biyu axis. It was alleged to be a reprisal attack over the killings and burning of houses in Bassa and Riyom last Saturday night by herders and native communities.
