Osun declares Monday as public holiday to mark Islamic New Year

Governor Adegboyega Oyetola of Osun State has declared Monday, the 9th day of August 2021 as a public holiday in the state.

The holiday is to commemorate the Muslim New Year, known as Hijrah443 AH and it will be observed by workers throughout the state.

This is contained in a statement issued and signed by the state Commissioner for Home Affairs, Hon. Tajudeen Olaniyi  Lawal on Friday.

He congratulated all Muslims and non-Muslims in advance on the occasion of this year’s Hijrah.

The statement noted that Governor Oyetola enjoined everybody to use the period of the holiday to pray for the growth and development of Osun State and Nigeria as a whole.
