Kidnappers have released the owner of Club 64 in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital, Mr Tari Ajanami, abducted two weeks ago.
But after freeing the nightclub man, the kidnappers detained his wife, Christiana, 38, and his septuagenarian father-in-law over claims that the N15m ransom paid was a far cry from the N200m they demanded.
Ajanami, 43, was set free in Ahoada, Rivers State but the abductors reportedly insisted that the N200m ransom demanded must be paid in full.
The kidnappers seized the ransom couriers, who are the victim’s wife and father-in-law.
A close family source expressed concern over the new development, saying that the abducted wife of the club owner is hypertensive and did not have her medications at the time of abduction.

The source said: “We are waiting to hear from the kidnappers. We learnt their satellite mobile phone gadget, popularly referred to as Turaya phone, fell into the water during the ransom exchange.
“You know N15m was taken to the ransom exchange point. The kidnappers collected the money and held the wife and her father in order to demand more money from the victim.”
Police spokesman Asinim Butswat said he was yet to be briefed on Ajanami’s release and the abduction of his wife and father-in-law.
“He has been released but we have not been officially informed. He should have come forward for de-briefing,” the police source, who craved anonymity, said.
