Wife of Katsina State Governor, Hajia Hadiza Bello Masari has called for regular counseling of the girl-child and engaging them in constant mentoring to safe guide their future educational development.
Masari who was speaking at a one-day sensitisation programme tagged: ‘’Imperative of Girl Child Education in Katsina state’’, organised by the Centre for Gender Studies, Federal University Dutsin-Ma (FUDMA),noted that by doing so, the nation’s collective resolve of degrading immorality and drug abuse affecting women in the society, would be realised.
She said, “All hands must be on deck to support and assist in educating the children of less privileged and orphans. Drug abuse among women and children remains the bane of success and progress to all these efforts.
“It is well known fact that the menace of drug abuse has taken a worrisome dimension with mothers at home and girls at college unfortunately consumption of illicit drugs has continued undeterred.’’

Also speaking on the occasion, the Vice Chancellor FUDMA, Professor Armaya’u Hamisu Bichi told the gathering that the statistics have continued to show glaring pictures of ills against women and girl-child noting that it is high time every one come together to salvage the situation.
He said, “This university is poised to support the drive to address the challenges with girl child that necessitated the coming up with the Centre to fashion out research and modalities towards reducing the bane of the girl child in our society.’’
The Special Adviser to Katsina State Government on Higher Education, Bishir Ruwangodiya called on stakeholders to work together to change the narratives of sidelining women issues adding that women must be supported to actualise their ambition of better education which is bane for development.
