The Lagos State Government has increased the  fees for the use of its facilities at the approved abattoirs at Oko-Oba  and Lairage, Agege; Achakpo, Ajegunle, Epe and Ikorodu.

The new measures include a new pricing template that would see operators pay more for using the facilities.

The new fees, which range from N1,500 – N3,500, have taken effect.

A document with Ref.  no. MOA/VD60/ 59, dated 29/07/2021; and signed by Dr. Macaulay R.M. for the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture, Lagos State, stated that the new price regime and other measures were agreed on after a meeting with the stakeholders.

The stakeholders include Abattoir Concessionaires and Lagos State Butchers’ Association (LSBA). One of them, Mr.  Isiaka Tunji, confirmed  that the government carried along before taking  the decision.

But a consumer, who gave her name simply as Mrs John, urged butchers not to increase prices of red meat as this would discourage consumers from patronising them.
