Ebonyi gets vaccines

EBONYI STATE

Ebonyi State has taken delivery of 46,088 doses of Moderna and 10,616 doses of AstraZeneca vaccines.

Commissioner for Health Dr Daniel Umezurike spoke on Monday when National Primary Healthcare Development Agency took the delivery in Abakaliki.

Umezurike, who was represented by Permanent Secretary in the ministry Dr Boniface Onwe, said the vaccine was safe.

”The AstraZeneca vaccine is for people who received the first dose while the Moderna is new and for people yet to take any vaccine,” he said.

Acting Executive Secretary of Ebonyi State Primary Healthcare Development Agency Dr Catherine Okoh said the target group were persons aged 18 and above.

“People should disregard the information that the vaccine has negative effects,” Okoh said.

State Immunisation Officer Mr Kalu Ogbonnaya urged residents to visit selected health facilities in their local governments and get vaccinated.

He said the vaccines were free, safe and effective.
