Police arrest three suspects in Delta

The Delta State Police Command has arrested three suspected hoodlums caught robbing entire household in Oghara, Ethiope West Local Government Area with a toy gun and an iron rod.

The police, who identified the suspects as Choice Macaulay (26), Endurance Ejokirehie (27) and Junior Macaulay (21), said they were alleged to have broken into a house on Old Benin Road, Oghara, around 2:00 a.m. and made away with phones valued at N400,000.

The Acting Police Public Relations Officer, Delta State Police Command, Edafe Bright, who confirmed the incident, said Divisional Police Officer in Oghara went into action, and detailed operatives to investigate and bring the armed robbers to book.

The PPRO said the detectives, through intelligence-led operation, arrested the following suspects at an Indian hemp joint, pointing out that exhibits recovered from them include three phones, a dummy gun and an iron rod used for the robbery.

“Suspects confessed to the crime and the victims have identified the stolen phones as theirs. On further investigation, it was discovered that one of the suspects, Choice Macaulay, who is the leader of the gang, was arrested before and charged to court but was later released.

“The suspects led the detectives to their hideout where one locally-made gun and two live cartridges were dug out from the ground where they were buried.”

In a related development, the police had also arrested four robbery gangs that were operating at MTN Road by Pipeline Sapele.

The DPO Sapele was said to have led a crack team and vigilante group, where during the operation four suspects identified as James Wisdom, 25, Peter Ayodele, 22, Ikolo Micheal, 18 and Francis Success, female, 26 were arrested and the following items were recovered from them; three cut-to-size single barrels gun with 18 cartridges, a Lexus car with Reg. No YAB 750 BP.

DSP Bright said: “The Commissioner of Police Delta State Command has warned criminals that Delta State will not be a safe place for them.
