Lagos State Government has engaged communities at Ito-Omu and adjoining areas in Ibeju Lekki and Epe local governments in the preparation of land use plan.
Speaking at a meeting, the Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Dr. Idris Salako, said the government, as part of its strategies to decongest the metropolis, is ready to bring development to Ito-Omu and its environs. “Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu is committed to this project and he wants infrastructural projects to be sited here, to upscale the infrastructural deficit in rural communities,” he said.
Salako assured the communities that the current administration would take care of their interests while the projects were being implemented.
He said the government would build jetty that would enhance transportation for residents.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, Abiola Kosegbe, stressed the importance of planning in physical development as a guarantee for an orderly society.
She called for the cooperation of stakeholders to ensure that the plan was well implemented.
The monarch of Ito-Omu, Oba Taiwo Gbadamosi, expressed support for the project and thanked the government for bringing development to the area.
The Chairman of the Council of Baales, High Chief Nureni Sikiru Alugbe, said the government should provide access roads and build schools in the communities.
The CDA Chairman, Zone C, Eyin-Osa, Mr. Suluka Rasaq Ishola, said Ito-Omu and neighbouring communities were anxious about the intervention of the government.
He said the zone would support the government to ensure the success of the project.
