The President, Team New Nigeria (TNN), Modibo Yakubun Farakwai has lamented that some partisan stakeholders of Nigeria democracy appear not to be dedicated to a peaceful, liberal and unified Nigeria.
Farakwai disclosed this during a visit to the former Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Chairman Attahiru Jega in Abuja. He said the recent escalation of political tension in view of the 2023 general elections is not good for the country of our dream.
According to him, this is where a strong advocacy for an effective and ideology-based party politics must be embraced by all well-meaning Nigerians.

He said: “Party politics must not be left for those who belong to the casual definition of Nigerian politics. He maintained that there is a need for people, irrespective of their professions, to join party politics.”
Farakwai noted that TNN promotes and sustains genuine democratic values, equality, diversity and inclusiveness, peaceful co-existence and sustainable community development by engaging and supporting young men and women through education, entrepreneurship and self-reliance skills.
TNN is not a political party. Rather, it is a movement of men, women, and youths of good conscience. It is designed to be a platform that will thrive on the ethos of patriotism, unity and justice driven by equity, absence of religious extremism and sectionalism.
The TNN president said: “Nigerians need positive change. We have to look for people who can bring this positive change reform to our political process. There is a need to reform the way our parties are conducted.
The former INEC Chairman, Jega said he has decided not to sit and watch things go wrong, even as he added that he decided to not continue praying to God without physically participating in the governance process. He said that informed his decision to join the People’s Redemption Party (PRP).
