Bankers have called for stakeholders to unite in repositioning the banking and finance industry as a catalyst for economic recovery, inclusive growth, and transformation.
Chairman, 14th Annual Banking and Finance Conference Consultative Committee & Group Managing Director/CEO, Access Bank Plc, Herbert Wigwe made this known on Friday during the pre-conference briefing in Lagos.
Wigwe said CIBN has been adjudged as an irreplaceable ally in banker’s journey through the path of re-positioning the Banking and Finance Industry as a catalyst for economic recovery, inclusion, and transformation.
He said: “The theme of the Conference, “Economic recovery, inclusion and transformation : The role of banking and finance’ is predicated on the need to reposition the banking and finance industry as a catalyst for economic recovery, inclusive growth, and transformation, thereby moving the future of Nigeria forward”.
Wigwe said over 10,000 participants are anticipated to attend across the globe, would login virtually, through zoom teleconferencing.
“There will be two physical locations at the Congress Hall of Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja and Bankers House, Victoria Island, Lagos for the Conference. The virtual and the physical will hold simultaneously. Technology and innovation would be deployed for a seamless execution of the Conference on the virtual and physical platforms,” he added.

The event, which will be attended by the Rwandan President Paul Kagame, other African leaders, prominent bankers, major economic players, captains of industries, regulators, policy makers, members of the academic community and other stakeholders in the banking and finance. Also to attend the event holding on September 14 – 15, 2021 for the 14 are financial technology companies and other stakeholders in the financial sector.
The Chief Host of the Conference is Godwin Emefiele, Governor, Central Bank of Nigeria while the host is Bayo Olugbemi, President and Chairman of Council, CIBN.
The Conference, which is scheduled to hold, simultaneously, at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja; Bankers’ House Lagos and through Zoom teleconferencing is the largest gathering of banking and finance professionals in Nigeria.
The event is an annual knowledge, thought sharing, and solution-based forum for all stakeholders: policymakers, regulators, operators, service providers, members of the academia, and clients in the Financial Services Industry. It provides a medium for practitioners within the Industry and beyond to share experiences, exchange ideas and proffer pragmatic insights on contemporary issues affecting the sector and the economy.
