Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde yesterday described the reign of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Adetunji, as eventful, noting that Ibadanland has continued to witness development across all spheres.

Makinde, who stated this while felicitating the Olubadan on his 93rd birthday, rejoiced with the monarch for witnessing another year.

He prayed God to grant the Kabiyesi more years and good health to lead Ibadanland to greater heights.

Makinde said: “I celebrate with our father, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Saliu Akanji Adetunji, Aje Ogungunniso I, as he marks his 93rd birthday.

“Kabiyesi, under your eventful reign, Ibadan and indeed, Oyo State, have grown in leaps and bounds and have witnessed massive development across all spheres.

“It is not a coincidence that these achievements and the overall transformation of Oyo State through several insightful and innovative policies of our administration are happening at this time. These are products of leadership that enjoys the acceptance of the people and leaders that are truly loved.

“No one is in doubt, Kabiyesi, that all your children in Ibadanland and around the world love you genuinely and will continue to do everything possible to make you proud and successful as our monarch.”

The member representing Oluyole Federal Constituency, Tolulope Akande-Sadipe, has congratulated Oba Adetunji on his 93rd birthday.

According to a statement by her Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mr. Olamilekan Olusada, the House of Representatives member extolled the virtues of the revered Ibadan monarch, as he celebrates God’s grace.

The statement said: “The House of Representatives member representing Oluyole Federal Constituency, Tolulope Akande-Sadipe has extolled the virtues of our royal father.

“No doubt, Kabiyesi has ensured progress in Ibadan, while also strongly advocating cultural and religious tolerance among his subjects.”

It hailed the nonagenarian for sustaining the virtues of his ancestors.

Akande-Sadipe, who chairs the House Committee on Diaspora, prayed that almighty Allah grant Oba Adetunji good health and long life as he continues to lead the people of Ibadan land.

“Ade a pe lori, bata a pe lese”, we appreciate your rulership. Happy birthday Kabiyesi,” the statement added.
