Super Eagles German coach Gernot Rohr has admitted that his wards must be wary of the Lone Star of Liberia as the Super Eagles open their Qatar 2022 World Cup campaign on Friday at the Teslim Balogun Stadium in Lagos.
The team’s opening two matches has been overshadowed with the British Government COVID-19 travelling restrictions to red- alert zone including the island of Cape Verde which the Super Eagles face on MatchDay 2 on September 7.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has hinted that all the UK-based players in the 30-man team list will not be travelling to Mindelo to face the Blue Sharks of Cape Verde but Rohr has called for caution.

“Of course, it is going to be a challenge for us (against Cape Verde) because we have to change nine players from our first list,” Rohr told CAFOnline.com.
“We are going to prepare the team as best as possible; but unfortunately we won’t have almost all our midfielders and our central defence is also affected for the game against Cape Verde.
“But it can be dangerous to focus only on the second match (against Cape Verde) while we are still preparing for the first game (against Liberia) which is the most important for us now; we have to make a good first game in this important FIFA competition,” Rohr noted.
Meanwhile, Rohr yesterday inspected the Teslim Balogun Stadium ahead of Friday’s opening match against Liberia.
The invited players were being expected in Lagos from last night so that training can begin in earnest.
