The Chartered Institute of Forensics and Certified Fraud Examiners of Nigeria (CIFCFEN) has bestowed its Honorary Fellowship on the Accountant-General of the Federation (AGF), Ahmed Idris.
The investiture took place in Abuja at institute’s Anti-Corruption Awards and fourth Proficiency Class graduation.
Also, Prof. Ngozi Blessing Ijeoma of the Department of Management Science, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra State bagged the Fellowship.
The President/Chairman of Council of CIFCFEN,Iliyasu Gashinbaki said the Fellowship is given to individuals who have distinguished themselves in their career and discharged their duties either as public servants or players in the private sector.
He extolled the virtues of the AGF for his exemplary leadership and bringing a breath of fresh air to the office and Ijeoma for her worthy contributions to scholarship.
Receiving the award on behalf of the AGF, Afolabi Ajayi, Director of ICT in the AGF’s office, commended the institute for the good work they done in such a short time.
“Notable among them is the conclusion of plans to finish the Nigerian College of Forensics and Fraud Examiners, which will be the first of its kind in Africa to cater to the yearnings and aspirations of professionals who desire specialist knowledge in fraud examination and diverse areas of forensics.”

He added that the office of the AGF is central to the implementation of the Federal Government’s public financial management reforms initiative aimed at positioning the economy among the best by 2025.
“These reforms have forensic implications as they are prone to fraud. Thus the desirability of an Institute such as CIFCEN.”
According to him, among the reforms already implemented are: the TSA, IPPIS, the contractors’ payment platform as well, audit modernaization, IPSAS implementation and an open treasury portal where update of budget implementation can be seen at a glance. “Certainly we also have the Federal Treasury Academy where your team can buy in and use as facilities. Therefore, I want to urge you to continue the research into the pros and cons of this noble profession.”
The occasion also featured the award of certificates 30 graduands of the 4th Proficiency Course of the Institute. The Chartered Institute of Forensics and Certified Fraud Examiners of Nigeria (CIFCFEN) is established by Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN) to provide core professionals in the specialized fields of Forensic Accounting and Fraud Examination in Nigeria. This will in turn strengthen the crusade against corruption in the country.
