My performances stunned opponents, says Wike

Rivers Governor Nyesom Wike

Rivers Governor Nyesom Wike said his opponents especially persons, who falsely predicted he would fail in office, were stunned by his performance.

He said those who boasted that he would not make any meaningful impact when he first assumed office were surprised that he had surpassed the expectations of the people of the state.

He attributed his performance to the political will of his administration to carry out necessary actions and activities as well as prudent management of resources.

“One key thing that is important in any government, is that if the leadership is weak, you don’t achieve anything. But if the leadership is strong, like ours is very strong, we have the political will to do whatever we say we will do,” he said.

Wike spoke on Monday after inspecting the ongoing construction of the Rumuepirikom, Rumuola, G.R.A junction , Nkpolu-Oroworukwo flyovers; dualisation of Ezimgbu road and Tombia road extension in Port Harcourt.

The Governor said he approached governance with human face through ambitious investment in basic infrastructure and creation of the necessary environment for economic growth in the state.

Wike also maintained that the enormous infrastructural achievements recorded by his administration were made possible by the prudent management of resources.

He said the state government and the contractor, Julius Berger, agreed to make some adjustment on the Nkpolu-Oroworukwo flyover because of some buildings affecting the construction work.

He explained that his administration in a bid to infuse human face into governance embarked on a development model that was both sustainable and inclusive.

He noted that there was no local government area in the State that the government had not invested huge resources in construction of schools, hospitals, roads and other critical infrastructure.

The Governor expressed optimism that the Rumuola, GRA junction flyovers as well as the dualisation of Ezimgbu road and Tombia road extension in Port Harcourt would be completed in a few weeks.
