‘APC will enforce discipline’

By Jide Orintunsin, Abuja

The Caretaker Extra-Ordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC) of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has promised to enforce discipline among the party’s members.

CECPC Secretary, Senator John James Akpanudoedehe, said this on Wednesday while briefing members of the party’s Local Government Congress Appeal Committees for the nationwide September 4 exercise.

Advising members of the committees to ensure that fair hearing and justice guide their assignment, the party scribe counseled aggrieved party members to approach the National Reconciliation Committee, headed by Senator Abdullahi Adamu, for redress.

Akpanudoedehe said: “Our party members should not forget that this is a family affair. So, as you go forth to your various states of assignment, you must ensure that fair hearing and justice be your guiding principles.

“It is also important to state that the party shall enforce discipline and full compliance with the directives of the National Executive Council (NEC) with regards to those who have taken the party to court, as enshrined in Article 21D of the party’s Constitution.

“Recall that the National Chairman of the CECPC, Yobe Stae Governor Mai Mala Buni, recently approved the constitution of a National Reconciliation Committee, headed by Senator Abdullahi Adamu.”

The party’s secretary noted that the inauguration of the appeal committees was part of CECPC’s quest to rebuild and reposition the party to give aggrieved members enough room to ventilate their grievances.

One of the chairmen of the appeal committees, Chief Patrick Obahiagbon, thanked the APC for the confidence reposed in him and fellow chairmen.

He advised aggrieved members to take advantage of APC’s internal mechanisms for conflict resolutions rather than recourse to litigations.
