Regarded as a nightmare for drug barons and peddlers, Brigadier-General Mohammed Buba Marwa Rtd, Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has positioned himself as the man who is gradually putting an end to the drug menace in the country.
Since his appointment, he has shown he is the best man for the job. After series of successful crackdowns on drug cartels, drug syndicates, and other illicit drug sellers, Nigeria is gradually heading towards becoming a drug-free country.
For his stellar performance over the years as the military administrator of Lagos and old Bornu state to being an ambassador and Chairman of NDELA, His Imperial Majesty, Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi 111, has honoured him with the title of Aare Atunluse of Yorubaland.
Last week, the Alaafin, through a formal letter addressed to the Adamawa-born retired General, informed him of his decision after due consultation with the Oyomesi (the traditional cabinet of the Alaafin who are the kingmakers) to confer him with the Yorubaland Chieftaincy title. The conferment ceremony, which will hold at the palace of the Alaafin in Oyo town, Oyo State, at a yet-to-be-announced date, is expected to witness the presence of royal fathers, traditional chiefs, businessmen and women, celebrities, and other prominent personalities.
