Chelsea star Ben Chilwell reacted to a huge error by scoring the Blues’ third goal against Southampton.
It ended 3-1 at Stamford Bridge after an eventual Premier League clash.
Thomas Tuchel’s side struck first through talented academy graduate Trevor Chalobah. A corner was flicked on by Ruben Loftus-Cheek, finding Chalobah free at the back post.
He converted the chance to give Chelsea exactly the start they wanted.
Chilwell could have made it 2-0 in the 26th minute but saw his effort kept out by Alex McCarthy.

Both Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner had goals ruled out before the interval.
In the second half, Chilwell brought down Tino Livramento in the box to give Southampton a chance to level.
James Ward-Prowse calmly slotted the resultant spot-kick home.
German forward Timo Werner stepped up in the 84th minute to avenge his disallowed goal. He finished from close range following a quick attacking move.
Chilwell then rounded off proceedings with a great left-footed strike. Two of his teammates had hit the woodwork in the build-up, but Chilwell made no mistake in beating McCarthy.
