A female undergraduate simply identified as Miss Precious on Thursday died in a gas explosion in her lodge in Ifite Awka, Anambra State.
The deceased said to be a student of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, was reportedly trapped by a collapsed wall of the building due to the explosion.
Some other occupants of the lodge also sustained injuries.

The Nation gathered that the lodge, predominantly occupied by UNIZIK students, was seriously damaged by the fire.
A resident of the area, Obinna Anyanwu said the explosion was caused by one of the occupants who was cooking with her gas cylinder in her room.
