A student of New Era High School, Surulere, Lagos, Niniolaoluwa Aibor has emerged as the ‘One-Day Chairman’ of Surulere Local government Area (LGA) after winning the Spelling Bee competition at the council.
The Chairman of Surulere Local Government, Sulaimon Yusuf, urged pupils to remain focused and dedicated to their studies adding that they should ensure they make the council proud.
Vice Chairman of the council, Muiz Dosunmu while congratulating her stated that the gesture was to encourage and support her to win at the state level and emerge as the ‘One Day Governor’ in the grand finale.
“In line with our giving back to the community, we have made a mandate that we are going to key into the welfare of our children. Children are the future of the state and the nation and we can only encourage them to aspire to be the best. Now, we brought her to her school so that the other students can see the accolades, the pampering that goes with the office and to encourage them. There are others that are better, that are good but because they are shy or nonchalant but when they see her today, I know a lot of them will come out to participate in the future”, he said.
He hailed Senator Oluremi Tinubu for the initiative adding that the Spelling Bee Competition has been a source of encouragement for students and citizens to aspire to achieve the best.
The winner, Niniolaoluwa Aibor expressed her appreciation to the Council Chiarman, Sulaimon Yusuf for the encouragement and support. She said: “I know that all these support and encouragement is for me to go to the state grand finale and represent them well so I can emerge as ‘One-Day Governor’ and I am assuring them I’ll emerge first. I just want to use this opportunity want to encourage my fellow students to put in more effort in their studies and achieve greater things than me”.
