Governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Thursday said the party has achieved 80 per cent consensus for the 21 elective party offices being contested for.
Briefing reporters yesterday, shortly after a meeting in Abuja attended by all the 13 PDP governors, the chairman of the PDP Governors Forum, Aminu Tambuwal, said consensus building is key to democracy.
Stating that the convention would hold as scheduled, Tambuwal said everything had been put in place to ensure the success of the exercise, which will take place at the Eagle Square, Abuja.
Tambuwal however, declined to comment on today’s Appeal Court ruling on a suit filed by the suspended National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus, saying that it would be sub judice to do so.
Secondus is, among others, seeking an order of the appellate court to stop the PDP national convention scheduled for Saturday.

Speaking with reporters earlier in the day, the chairman of the PDP Convention Organising Committee, Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, said the convention would reposition the PDP for victory in the 2023 elections.
The governor boasted that the success of the convention would “close down” many political parties, especially the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Fintiri said: “I foresee that by the end of this convention, which will be adjudged one of the best in the history of not just the PDP, but also of any political party ever in this country. It is going to close down most of the political parties, especially the APC.
“So, with this convention that we are going to deliver, I believe with the democratic process and procedures that we have followed diligently, it is going to open a floodgate for all of them to come in.
“And I think this is not just because of the convention, but also because of the situation Nigerians are in today.
“Everybody is not just looking at PDP to rescue them, but they are looking at PDP as a platform that will bring in a new government in 2023”.
Bayelsa State Governor, Duoye Diri said there is hope for the country and that it’s about time to rescue Nigeria from the brink of collapse.
Diri said: “Nigeria is bleeding and whether you are home or abroad, this is your country. It is time for you to now join hands with the only main opposition party that has been reorganised; that is looking forward to having a brand new National Executive Committee come Saturday.
“So, we call on brothers and sisters home and abroad to join hands with the main political opposition party to rescue Nigeria”.
