Niger Delta Affairs Minister Godswill Akpabio has said he will not meddle in the issue of the constitution of the Board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).
He said it is not within his purview as the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs to do so.
Akpabio was reacting to the threat by Niger Delta women to go naked to protest the refusal to constitute a substantive board for the commission.
The Federal Government had promised to announce the NDDC board immediately after the forensic audit of the commission.
Media Adviser to the Minister, Jackson Udom, told The Nation that it is not part of the minister’s job to reconstitute NDDC board.
According to him, “it is not part of his job, he has reacted to that several times that he does not have the power to reconstitute the NDDC board.”
