The Nigeria Police Command in Adamawa has confirmed the killing of seven people in Negga, a community in Numan local government area.
It was gathered on Thursday morning that at least seven others were injured during the attack on Negga, a village around the border between Adamawa State and neighbouring Taraba.
Sources said the community was attacked in the early hours of Wednesday by gunmen.
Adamawa Assembly has reacted to the incident, condemning the attack and urging the government and security agencies to fish out the perpetrators.
The Assembly’s reaction followed a motion on Matter of Urgent Public Interest sponsored by Deputy Speaker and Member representing Numan constituency, Hon. Pwamwakeno Mackondo, who reported the incident to the House.

Mackondo said Negga had a history of frequent attacks by gunmen and lamented that although leaders of the community forwarded their plight to the authorities and a military unit was deployed, the military did not go to the community.
Confirming the latest attack on Negga, Adamawa Police spokesman, DSP Suleiman Nguroje, said several gunmen invaded the Negga village around 2 am on Wednesday, firing at innocent villagers.
“According to the first information report, the suspected criminals attacked the village while the farming community was asleep,” Nguroje said.
He added that the police had deployed a special squad to the area to fish out the assailants as the police had zero tolerance for criminal groups threatening the peace and lives of innocent people.
