A group, Gombe New Frontiers (GNF), has said Gombe State Governor Inuwa Yahaya deserves a second term in office.
It also said there is no division in the state chapter of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The organisation warned against indiscriminate criticisms by former Governor Danjuma Goje.
It also cautioned against making disparaging remarks against some chieftains to avoid heating up the chapter.
GNF said Gombe APC remained united under the leadership of the incumbent governor and other party leaders.
In a statement in Gombe, the state capital, the group acknowledged what it called a “planned, sustained and orchestrated political manoeuvering” to create confusion and give a semblance of division in the ruling party.
It’s Secretary, Mallam Isa Shehu, said any attempt to blackmail Governor Yahaya would fail, adding that the APC would not allow political thuggery, lawless behaviours and mayhem.
The statement said: “People have concocted to give a misleading impression about Governor Yahaya, but we all know the aggressor. We all know the history of thuggery and political lawlessness and manoeuvering in the state.”

GNF said Gombe State was hitherto known for peace and harmony, adding that the “new face of politics” was responsible for the breach of peace.
It added: “From telling the whole world that he won’t run for Senate again to reneging on that statement and the resultant intermittent political assault and violence from one local government to the other, we have our convictions on who’s fueling the repeated ugly incidents.”
GNF maintained that there is no division in the chapter because leaders and members were grateful for the good work of the incumbent governor, hence, his recent endorsement for a second term.
The group urged the former governor to support Yahaya to do his work without interference.
It said: “This is obviously the evil of ‘godfatherism’, a negative phenomenon that invariably causes political bile and distasteful outcome in attempt to control, distract and blackmail a successor.
“But Governor Yahaya is expected to have a mind of his own to achieve his mandate and contract with the good people of Gombe State. It’s true that both men cannot be the same in character and style of governance and that should be clear to all.”
