ONE of the leaders of the Alternative sound, Falana, has released a seven-track EP entitled ‘Rising’ alongside visual arts in her stride to propagate women empowerment.
Falana’s EP launch further inspired collaboration with seven leading Nigerian artists, to create a work that has been inspired directly by a song on the new EP.
The Rising EP features new tracks such as ‘Sweet Adetola’ about a woman hustling, doing whatever it takes to survive, and ‘Electric Lady’ in which she sings, “You’re no-one’s trophy” in recognition of when a woman recognises her strength, while ‘Energy’ celebrates the power of self-love.
Speaking on the project, the multi-talented artist said “Rising is around women empowerment, and I think as a project I think it is one of my best, I am very proud of it, it is a very collective mix and I think it comes together very seamlessly as a project.”
Visual artists featured on the project are Yagazie Emezi, Elizabeth Ekpeterson, Abba Makama, AyanfeOlarinde, LajuSholola, LemiGhariokuw, and UthmanWahaab.
