National President, Association of Pharmaceutical Products Marketers of Nigeria (APPMAN), Afolabi Adekambi, has said that the association has established a self-regulatory task force, to deal with members found wanting.
Speaking during the association’s convention at Airport Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos, Afolabi said the association has sufficiently reduced the work load and frictions between members of the association and the Pharmacist Council of Nigeria (PCN).
“As a rule, all members of APPMAN must engage the services of superintendent pharmacists for retail prescriptions where applicable. This, we take seriously to the extent of applying disciplinary measures to some members recently, for not adhering to extant rules and regulations,” he said.

According to him, the association was working on having registered warehouses with regulated facilities.
“The less privileged may not be able to afford quality drugs because of the cost, so we are partnering with manufacturers to get these drugs to them at affordable prices,” he said.
He hailed the efforts of the PCN in converting the Drugs market to Coordinated Wholesale Centers (CWC).
Registrar of PCN Elijah Mohammad urged members to have a pharmacist or medical professional in any regulatory establishment to ensure that the regulations are properly done.
He urged pharmacists to adhere to the council’s ethics.
