ICAN mulls entrepreneurship strategy to combat current 34% unemployment rate

The president of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, (ICAN) Comfort Olu Eyitayo has enjoined Nigerians to embrace entrepreneurial skills to combat current surge of 33.30% unemployment rate in Nigeria.

Eyitayo, who is the 57th helmsman of the accounting body gave this charge when she paid a courtesy visit to PKF Professional Services in Lagos, noted that the institute recognised that the current unemployment crisis cuts across all professional fields and therefore holds the view and very strongly too that building the entrepreneurial capacity centre for its members who are affected by either unemployment or under employed, becomes inevitable.

While noting that the institute is also vigorously pursuing the reciprocity to ensure that its members are not disadvantaged wherever they are relocating to in the course of their profession to add value to the given facility, she however quick to add that from rebranding the Idowu Taylor’s institute headquarter to enviable status that each member can proud of, her administration has also unveiled a new logo that depict international outlook.”

Welcoming the president and members of the Council into the PKF professional services, the Managing Partner, Chief Tajudeen Akande stressed that chartered accountants play vital role in economic development and nation building as key actors in commerce and industry.
