APC Convention: Ilorin Emirate begins fasting, prayers for Mustapha

The Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU) has commenced a chain of fasting and prayers for the actualisation of the aspiration of Mallam Saliu Mustapha as the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Mustapha, a long term ally of President Muhammadu Buhari, is a former Deputy National Chairman of Buhari’s Congress for Progressives Change (CPC).

At 49, he is said to be the youngest of the aspirants jostling for the position of the national chairman of the ruling party, which has been slated for February 26, 2022.

In a statement by the National President of its Ilorin Emirate students section, Abdulwaheed Abdulsalam Kajola, said that the prayers became imperative to intercede spiritually for Mustapha in order for him to be able to actualize his ambition.

“We do not have money to give Mallam Saliu Mustapha, neither do we know the delegates that will vote to make him emerge the winner. But we’ve prayers and fasting, and we believe in their potency.”

“Mallam (Mustapha) has been wonderful to us as an organization, and to the generality of our community. He deserves all the support he can get and we’re more than glad to render it.”

In a notice circulated in flyers and pamphlets across the Ilorin metropolis on Tuesday, the students said preparations are already in top gear to ensure that the prayer sessions, scheduled for the iconic Ilorin oldest central mosque at ‘idi-ape’ go smoothly.

Expected at the event are prominent Islamic clerics from across the four Local Government Areas of Ilorin Emirates, including the Chief Imam of Ilorin, Shierk Muhammad Bashir Alfulany.
