Abiru presents Magodo Residents’ petition to Senate

Chairman of the Senate Committee on Industries, Adetokunbo Abiru, has presented before the Senate a petition written by the Executives of the Magodo Residents Association in Lagos on the attempt to forcefully, illegally execute a court judgment in their estate.

The senator representing Lagos East, told the Upper Chamber that the petitioners brought a complaint against the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and Justice Minister, Mr. Abubakar Malami (SAN), as well as the Inspector General of Police (IGP) “over illegal invasion of Magodo GRA, Phase 2, Ikosi Ketu, in Kosofe Local Government Area of Lagos State by men of the Nigeria Police Force in a bid to illegally execute a court judgment”.

He said the property owners are seeking the intervention of the Senate so that the “gun-wielding policemen” could be withdrawn from the estate and allow the Lagos State government to conclude its efforts at resolve the matter amicably.

Abiru told the Senate that the petitioners did not seek any judicial remedy.

Senate President Ahmad Lawan requested that the petition be laid before the Senate for the consideration of the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions.

The committee was mandated to report back in four weeks.
