“PEOPLE keep saying he is old but I do not think anyone is ready to lose his or her father.” These are some of the words of Princess Adeseun, a daughter of Onisheri of Isheri Olofin, Lagos, Oba Wahab Ayinde Balogun, who died on Tuesday and was buried on Wednesday according to Islamic rites.
Going to join his ancestor at the age of 95 and ruling Isheri Olofin land for 37 years meant the first class ruler lived a fulfilling life but his daughter still wished he was alive to witness his marriage.
In one of her posts on social media, Adeseun said she could remember when her father would go for monarchs’ meetings or official functions and everyone would be rejoicing because they knew he would bring lots of goodies and food for them.
She added: “One thing I know for sure is that my father doesn’t joke with his children. You do not even eat much but I took my love for meat from you. You lived a good life and ruled well. I asked for the same wisdom.”
The late paramount ruler of Isheri Olofin was once the chairman Alimosho Council of Obas and during his reign, Isheri Olofin witnessed a major growth. In June 2019, he celebrated his 35 years on the throne. He became the king in 1983 but his coronation took place in 1984.
