An indigenous oil firm yesterday pledged to keep essential services running in Lagos during the current fuel scarcity by prioritising the supply of the product to the police, military, paramilitary and other essential agencies.
Dabufem Oil & Gas, in a statement by Oluwadare Adedoyin, expressed hope that this would help to maintain peace and order and deter crime.
According to it, the petrol contamination experienced in some areas of the state requires “high-level management improvisation with the public interest at heart.
“However, this essential economic driven product must be adequately circulated by dispensing rightfully, based on quantity availability.
“As a matter of priority, we at Dabufem, have decided to fuel the system and keep all public utilities running.
“We will ensure security operatives are properly served (police vehicles, military vans, paramilitary and other security providing agencies) in other to maintain peace and order and to also deter potential criminal occurrences.”
The statement said Dabufem’s supply offer will also cover other sectors.
It said: “We will also ensure that our health sector is prioritised. Our hospitals, ambulances, medical professionals and other health-providing agencies are served adequately in order for them to respond and be responsive when duty calls. (All lives matter)
“We will also fuel the transportation sector by ensuring all goods convening vehicles, basic public transport buses, trucks, tricycle and bike riders ‘Okada’ are all served and running.”
Small and medium-sized businesses were not left out and the firm said it understood their importance.
“We will serve those whose businesses are power-driven (salons, business centres, welders, content creators, frozen foods industry, among others) in other for them to maintain commercial activities and enjoy profit maximisation of their business ventures.
“We will plead with our private car owners to join us in the act of rationality for the sake of the system. We encourage our private car owners to buy rationally and support our intention to properly dispense fuel for the purpose of public circulation.”
It included its host Local Government in the offer, adding that “All official cars and vehicles of Ifelodun Local Government and any car on official duty as designated by the local government authority will also be prioritised and served with immediate effect.”
