The Onigbongbo Local Council Development Area has empowered 260 artisans of various vocations with their working tools.
Its Chairman Oladotun Olakanle, who also donated two buses to chiefs and Baales in Onigbongbo, gave 100 aged and widows N5000 each and promised to make it a monthly affair.
He warned against selling the equipment, stating that the recipients would be monitored.
Those that use them judiciously, he said, would be entitled to a loan.
A former lawmaker, Niyi Oyemade and Chairman of the Oshodi-Isolo Local Government Area Keyinde Almaroof hailed Olakanle’s gesture.
Head of Administration Azeez Ademola, urged recipients to make good use of the materials given to them.
Ademola said their responses to the government gesture would pave the way for others to benefit.
