The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State yesterday urged the police to investigate the killing recorded during the party’s delegates’ ward congress.

A statement by the Publicity Secretary of the party, Oladeji Areola, appealed to the police to conduct a thorough investigation into the unfortunate death of a man killed at Ward 14, Agberire village, via Iwo, on Wednesday.

He said: “We make this appeal not just as a concerned party, but also to stem the brewing reprisal, as friends of the deceased are reportedly regrouping against the other gang, which is capable of causing further bloodshed. Good enough, the police reportedly have one of the suspects in their custody. This, we believe, should assist them in their investigation.”

The Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation, Funke Egbemode, described the incident as unfortunate and distasteful, saying politics of violence in any form was unwelcome in Osun State.
