MANY years ago, precisely in 2006, Adebola Williams, Chude Jideonwo and Emilia Asim-Ita introduced The Future Awards (TFA). Although Asim-Ita died on Friday, January 29, 2021, she will always be a part of the awards ceremony.
The first edition of the show was held at Magnolia Hall, City Mall, Lagos, with little hope for tomorrow. But it has grown to be one of the most respected youth awards in Africa.
It is also interesting to note that none of the founding members are directly involved in the planning of the ceremony at the moment.
While celebrating the organising members for the recently held edition, Williams singled out the efforts of Seun Oluyemi and Bukola Adebakin.
He said: “Dear Otunba Seun and Bukonla Adebakin, I couldn’t be prouder experiencing the magical evening at The Future Awards Africa as a guest on Sunday night. You both and your incredible team of Todah, Desmond, Emeka, Ngozi, Lekan, Somidotun, Harry, Oshodi, Gibson Khadijah and everyone else delivered an excellent show. I am proud of you and excited to truly retire.
“Thank you to all my friends and associates for your calls and messages. The glory is indeed to God and these amazing guys. The vision lives now in the hands of those we have groomed and indeed a proud moment.”
Adebakin started with the company as a greenhorn but she has risen through the ranks to become a team lead of The Future Project. Oluyemi Seun, similarly, was a volunteer in 2006 and now leads TFA’s team.
