Realtor to youths: no shortcut to success

A 29-year-old realtor and businessman, Victor Usoro, has urged youths to work hard to be successful, saying there was no shortcut to reaching the top.

Sharing his success story as an entrepreneur at a briefing in Lagos, Usoro said he first trained as a geologist before going into the real estate business.

Usoro, who is the Chief Executive Officer of a fast-rising reality estate firm, Webbihomes, said he engaged in social media marketing for a music artist before starting a food business.

At some point, he lost all his funds to end up homeless and sleeping in a church, but remained focused and steadfast until luck smiled on him and he helped sell a property through a Whatsapp update.

Usoro said: “Nigerian youths should learn to remain dedicated and hardworking while keeping their eyes on the goal.”

He narrated how his ability to secure a vacant apartment for an older woman at 10 thrust him into becoming a realtor.

“When I was 10 years of age, I was playing football with my friends, when a stranger came by in search of any available property for rent.

“I, being the most inquisitive and outspoken among my peers, showed the woman a property, gave detail about what I knew, and directed her to the house of the landlord.  A few days later, the deal was finalised and the property was taken by the woman which pleased the landlord and earned me a bottle of chilled Pepsi with two gala for the referral.  This little incident and dose of encouragement from the landlord ignited my interest in marketing and real estate,” Usoro recalled.
