The Executive Chairman of Moni Pulo Limited, an upstream Nigerian oil and gas company, Dr. Seinye O.B. Lulu-Briggs has been honoured with the Daily Independent’s ‘Personality of the Year Award’ and the Silverbird Group’s ‘Extraordinary Achievement Award, in recognition of her philanthropic and developmental contributions to humanity.

Mrs. Lulu-Briggs who owns chains of businesses, has in the past 20 years touched thousands of lives positively through her O.B Lulu-Briggs Foundation.

Receiving the Daily Independent’s award penultimate weekend, she said: “This award, which is a recognition of my work and that of the staff of my companies and of the Foundation, is a testimony to the fact that it is good to be good.”

Speaking on the importance of the Silverbird Extraordinary Achievement Award, Mrs Lulu-Briggs said it was gratifying for her to be considered worthy of recognition by the Nigerian media, which she said represents the voice of the people.

The foundation which she established in honour of her husband had spent millions of naira on philanthropic projects including free healthcare to 13,2491 people through 34 medical camps across Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, and Rivers States. It also caters to the needs of some 200 elders.

With the death of her husband in 2018, Lulu-Briggs’ Foundation started championing the cause of marginalised widows in partnership with the African Women Lawyers Association (AWLA), a development that was attributed to her personal experience.

With the partnership, free legal services are offered to embattled widows in the pursuit of their rights, protection of their dignity and those of their children, just as a toll-free number -0800 00231111- was also launched for Nigerian widows in distress to seek help.
