The President, United Apostolic Church of Christ Worldwide (UACC), Rev. James Owoyemi, at the weekend declared that no individual could lay claim to ownership of the church.
Owoyemi, fielding questions from reporters on whether UACC was a break-away of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) and The Apostolic Church, (TAC) said the church, which was established in 1965 by 16 clerics, stands on its own and is not relying on anybody.
Speaking in Ibadan during the thanksgiving service for the 57th Pastors Conference of the church, Owoyemi said although most of the UACC founding fathers were members of the African Apostolic Church, holy spirit led them to start a church which was an ‘Apostolic’ denomination with the logo of ‘United’.
“Most of the 16 founders of this church were from the Southwest. We have the same doctrine with other Apostolic churches. Our hymns, books and order of service are similar, but we stand on our own,” he said.
In his sermon titled: “Judgment without mercy”, the UACC president urged Christians, particularly his members, to be mindful of their actions, noting that they will account for whatever they do on earth.
One of the participants at the conference, Pastor Samuel Ogunlade, said the programme increased their knowledge, adding: “This will bring about physical and spiritual development of the church.”
