WC play off: FG closes offices for Nigeria-Ghana match

The Federal Government has directed the closure of all offices from 1pm on Tuesday to mobilise support for the Super Eagles against the Black Stars of Ghana in a must-win second leg of the play off for Qatar 2022 World Cup ticket.

The first leg of the play off in Kumasi stadium last Friday ended in a goalless draw with the Eagles needing a win to qualify for the biggest soccer tournament in the world.

A statement signed by Dr Ngozi Onwudiwe, Permanent Secretary Welfare Office for the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Folasade Yemi-Esan said workers should move to the Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja for the match immediately after closure of offices.

The statement reads: “As you are aware the Super Eagle of Nigeria will be meeting the Black Stars of Ghana in continuation of the FIFA World Cup qualifier, play off return leg.

” Consequently, all offices will be closed by 1.pm on Tuesday to enable Nigerians move to the National stadium for the match.”
