Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya yesterday said the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Gombe State remains rock-solid in terms of numerical strength and the magnificent performance of its administration.
He called on members to guard against the political wolves in sheep’s clothing.
Governor Yahaya stated this while speaking at the distribution of empowerment items facilitated by the member representing Gombe South in the State House of Assembly Mustapha Usman Hassan at the APC Square.
The governor said citizens tend to appreciate the true essence of leadership when leaders cultivate the habit of doing those things that can improve the lives of the citizens.
He said his administration will continue to accord priority to policies and programmes that have a direct bearing on the life of the common man, urging elected officials and political appointees to also strive in impacting the lives of the electorate in whatever way they can.
He urged beneficiaries of this and other empowerment programmes in the state to utilise the items for their social and economic emancipation.
The Speaker, Gombe State House of Assembly, Abubakar Mohammed Luggerewo said the empowerment scheme could not have come at a better time when Governor Yahaya is taking pragmatic steps toward putting the state on the pedestal of sustainable development. Represented by Deputy Speaker Siddi Buba, the Speaker observed that under the leadership of Governor Yahaya, the state has witnessed social, economic and infrastructural development with direct links to the yearnings and aspirations of the common man.
The initiator of the empowerment programme Mustapha Hassan thanked Governor Yahaya for showing leadership which is robbing off politicians in the state to contribute to the growth and development of their various communities and humanity in general.
He explained that he initiated the programme with the aim of alleviating poverty and improving the well-being of his constituents in support of Governor Yahaya’s effort in that direction.
