The Chief Executive Officer of E4Luxury, Ayodele Donye Samson has said that jewellery business s a wider scope than Rolex and Diamond rings

Using his company, E4Luxury, as an example, Donye said: “We deal in the gamut of luxury stuff including diamonds, watches, rings, earrings and custom pendants. We don’t just sell luxury brands, we equally create and design custom pieces, be it earrings, rings or pendants.”

Speaking further, the jeweller, who is presently the favourite of most celebrities in Nigeria, also debunked claims that the economy is bad for jewellery business.

He said: “We have often heard the saying that diamonds are forever. The saying applies to all precious stones. In boom or bust, jewels are valuable. And given humans’ love for diamonds and gold, the business of jewellery cannot experience a downturn.”

He continued: “Though like in any other business, trading in jewels has its own ups and down. By and large, it is a solid business with good return on investment.”

Nonetheless, dealing in jewels is not an all-comers business, the E4Luxury boss affirmed.

“While you don’t need a university degree to become a jeweller, there are, however, other factors that are sine qua non to being successful at the jewellery business,” he started.

Continuing, he added: “First, you need to be passionate about precious stones, and about the business of looking good. Secondly, you must have the mindset of an entrepreneur and be ready to live by the principles of entrepreneurship.”

Drawing from his experience of building E4Luxury from scratch, Ayodele Donye Samson explained how and why the business is attractive to aspiring entrepreneurs.

“Fashion is well entrenched in contemporary human society. In good or bad times, there will be social gatherings and parties and people will often dress in their best clothes and accessories, which include luxury jewels. So, any day, there will be demand for such luxury items as rings, earrings, watches and pendants,” he said.
