The Katsina State command of the Nigerian Police Force, yesterday in Katsina, announced that it has repelled attacks carried out by a group of terrorists numbering about 40, in Bago village in Dutsinma Local Government Area of Katsina State, following the receipt of a distress call.
The spokesman of the Katsina state Police Command, SP Gambo Isa, who briefed newsmen at the state headquarters, said the terrorists rode on motorbikes and were shooting sporadically with AK 47 riffles, adding that they also rustled 50 cows belonging to Alhaji Ibrahim Maikudi who also live in the area.
He said, “The Area Commander for Dutsinma led a team of policemen to the area, engaged the hoodlums in a fierce gun battle and successfully repelled the terrorists and neutralised one of them.’’
“The operational strategy and gallantry displayed by the team made the terrorists to abandon their heinous mission and fled the scene.’’
“One AK47 riffle with 5 rounds of 7.62mmammunnition and all the 50 cows were recovered; many terrorists escaped the scene with gunshot wounds, search parties are still combing the area.’’
In another development, the command also announced the bursting of syndicates of human traffickers, rescuing 15 victims comprising 8females and 7 males.
The command’s spokesman who broke the news, said the suspects were accosted in Baraji Quarters in Daura Local Government Area of Katsina State, adding that the rescued victims ranging between the ages of 19 to 27 years were mainly from the South South, South East and South Western states.
