Babangida wants result-oriented coach for Eagles

Tijani Babangida

Former Super Eagles winger Tijani Babangida has asserted that the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) should only employ a foreign coach that will be willing to help develop the Super Eagles and the players in the Nigeria Professional Football League.

Babangida who is the President of the Professional Footballers Association of Nigeria, said there was nothing wrong with the appointment of a foreign expatriate but that things must be spelt out in his contract that he has come to rescue the Super Eagles and Nigerian football.

The former Ajax Amsterdam speed star affirmed that the new foreign coach must be willing to work and leave in Nigeria coupled with ensuring that he goes round the country to watch league games with the proviso that the domestic league players will be part of his programme.

“At this moment when they have already made up their minds on bringing a foreign coach there must be terms and conditions for him to work with,” Babangida stated. “If you are bringing a foreign coach, is he the one that will save Nigeria? Will be able to watch the league? It should be in his contract that he has come to rescue Nigerian football and he should stay and watch league games too.”

Incidentally, The NFF also stated that a new Head Coach for the Super Eagles will be announced and officially unveiled once the processes for his engagement and contract-signing are concluded.
