2023: Group seeks APC, NNPP merger

The Movement for Sustenance of Buhari Legacies (MSBL) has canvassed a merger of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) with the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) for the purpose of winning next year’s elections.

It said the merger would put the party in good stead to retain the presidency after President Muhammadu Buhari’s exit at the end of his eight-year tenure in 2023.

MSBL’s National Co-ordinator Muftau Hassan told reporters that failure to merge could cause APC problems. He hoped the merger would pave the way for a former Kano State Governor Rabiu Kwankaso as the party’s candidate.

Kwankaso, a presidential aspirant, defected from Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to NNPP.

“And we hereby call on our party, APC, to opt for the idea of not presenting a presidential candidate but to merge with NNPP to avoid embarrassment of massive defeat in the 2022 election,” Hassan added.
