Tech firm to train 50,000 Nigerian youths on skills, employment

United States- Nigerian technology company, WRKR, has said it will upskill over 50,000 Nigerian graduates and undergraduates with essential life and soft skills to make them relevant and globally competitive for jobs.

Founder/Chief Executive Officer of WRKR Technology  Inc. Preston Obadan, who spoke in an interview with reporters in Abuja, said the firm would unlock access to work opportunities, thereby making it easier for people to securely store and share their skills and employment data.

He noted that the firm is a cloud based mobile first platform that enables employers and candidates to efficiently share skill and employment data while optimising the process of discovering,recruiting, qualifying and onboarding talents.

Obadan, while explaining that the training is free, said each participant would be given a career kit during training.

He said: “For us at WRKR, we are passionate about people, we are building technologies to drive this growth in people, enabling them to manage their skills and employment records better, giving them access to the kind of global opportunities and employment marketplace.

“That’s why we have launched the future workforce programme which is a one stop shop for young people largely targeted at fresh graduates and undergraduates to get access to the right set of tools and resources and enable them take these global jobs

“At the heart of what we do is people, and the future workforce programme is a multi stakeholder engagement between companies and institutions in Nigeria and the United States of America, to enhance the productivity of young people and provide them with resources to better their chances of finding work now and the future”.

In his remarks, the Programme Manager of Future Workforce Daniel Oyekanmi said the firm would solve job problems in Nigeria and Africa.

“We are trying to get people trained and skilled for the jobs out there, we are training graduates for employers, we have a platform where employers and employees meet, including interns”, he added.
